Woman assaulted in unprovoked daytime attack in Letterkenny

A WOMAN was set upon in an unprovoked daytime attack in Letterkenny.

The troubling incident happened in the Rosemount Lane area of Letterkenny on Tuesday, March 16, between 4.30pm and 5.15pm.

The woman was walking from Main Street in the direction of Pearse Road when she met two males walking in the opposite direction.

The men started punching the woman in the stomach and the head before making off in the direction of Pearse Road.

Gardaí say the two men were believed to have been wearing masks or balaclavas.

Officers are trawling CCTV in a bid to identify the perpetrators.

The woman received medical treatment and managed to make her way home.
