THE majority of services at Letterkenny University Hospital have resumed on a staggered basis in recent weeks.

Hospital bosses hope to have outpatients clinics at full capacity soon.

Ann Cosgrove, the Chief Operating Officer for the Saolta University Healthcare Group, who run LUH, said that majority of displaced services were up and running again.

Ms Cosgrove was responding to a query from Councillor Ciaran Brogan at the latest Regional Health Forum West meeting,

Inpatient surgery resumed with normal schedule on Monday 15th March.

Endoscopy has returned to its full schedule and Day Surgery has resumed five days per week at reduced capacity which, like outpatients, will increase over the coming weeks.

Ms Cosgrove said: “All outpatients clinics have resumed but at a reduced level and will return to full capacity over the coming weeks as staff are released from the vaccination clinics.

“Oncology, fracture, breast and haematology clinics continued throughout the pandemic with appropriate distancing of patients

“Where clinically appropriate, virtual (telephone or video conference) clinic consultations will continue in order to reduce number of people attending the outpatients services.”
