Lifeguard should be moved from Lisfannon to Ludden – Councillors

Donegal County Council has been asked to relocate its lifeguard from the closed Lisfannon Beach, Buncrana, to nearby Ludden.

Lisfannon was closed last year during the coronavirus lockdown, however, it did not reopen because of storm damage to an access road and the parking area.

At Tuesday’s meeting of the Inishowen Municipal District (MD), a number of councillors asked that the lifeguard normally stationed at Lisfannon be moved to Ludden Beach.

Independent councillor, Nicholas Crossan, said that between 50 and 60 sea swimmers use Ludden every day, all year round.

“The council’s lifeguard could be moved to Ludden Beach, while Lisfannon remains closed,” he said.

Sinn Fein’s Jack Murray agreed, adding that an outdoor shower should also be installed at Ludden.
