Loreto, Milford transition years told to stay home due to Covid cases

ALL transition year students and a third year class from a Donegal school have been told to remain at home following Covid-19 detections.

A letter issued to parents of students at Loreto Community School in Milford confirmed that there were three positive Covid-19 cases within the school community yesterday.

“The HSE would indicate that they believe these cases to be unrelated to the earlier cases this week,” the note said.

The school said it was ‘prudent that we err on the side of caution’ and all members of a third year class group and all transition year students were told to ‘restrict their movements and remain at home until we get further reassurance from the HSE that there is no link’.

The school added: “This measure is purely precautionary and is done in the best interests of our students, their families and the wider school community.”

This follows the news last week that a Covid-19 outbreak resulted in all Leaving Certificate students being sent home from Loreto Secondary School in Letterkenny.

Those students will taught remotely until this Wednesday, April 28.

The Royal and Prior School in Raphoe confirmed earlier last week that they were also dealing with confirmed cases, while measures were put in place at Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair after a teacher tested positive for the virus.
