JIM McGuinness will be among the guests on this Friday’s Late Late Show.

McGuinness, Donegal’s All-Ireland winning manager from 2012, will join Ryan Tubridy to discuss his move from GAA to soccer.

The Glenties man, a member of the 1992 All-Ireland winning Donegal squad, led Donegal to glory in 2012.

McGuinness’s Donegal won three Ulster Senior Football Championship titles and reached the All-Ireland final of 2014, which they lost to Kerry.

In 2012, McGuinness was recruited as a performance consultant by Celtic FC. Having got involved in coaching at Celtic, McGuinness moved to Beijing Sinobo Guan for a short spell, working under Roger Schmidt.

Most recently, he worked as the manager of Charlotte Independence, a club playing in the USL Championship, but his tenure there ended in June 2019.

RTÉ have confirmed that McGuinness will be among a host of stars from the worlds of movies, music and sport coming together to lend their support to Pieta House’s annual Darkness into Light fundraising campaign in this week’s show.

Hollywood star Sharon Stone, Irish jockey Rachael Blackmore – who won a historic Grand National last month – Irish country music star Sandy Kelly and her niece, Sandie Ellis, Westmeath GAA star and former AFL player Ray Connellan, ultra-marathon runner Conor O’Keeffe, and Pieta clinical manager Leigh Kenny will also be on the couch.

There will be a musical performance from Pillow Queens of The Cranberries single When You’re Gone which will feature on a forthcoming album of covers of songs from The Cranberries in aid of Pieta House.
