Almost 60% of calls to the Donegal Garda Covid hotline have found no breaches of guidelines.
The latest figures for the dedicated phoneline at Letterkenny Garda station show that a total of 67 calls were received.
These figures relate to between Tuesday, May 4, 2021 and Sunday on May 9, 2021.
A spokesperson for the Garda press office confirmed that 41 of these calls which they responded to resulted in no breaches of Covid regulations.
Enquiries are ongoing into a further 21 of these calls.
Two hoax calls were received.
An Garda Síochána said they continue to follow the 4 Es, engage, explain, encourage and enforce as a last resort.
The telephone line for reporting Covid breaches has been in operation for a week.
The setting up of the hotline followed a spike in cases across Donegal with both the Milford and Letterkenny electoral areas showing the highest incidence of the virus recently.
The telephone line, which is manned by Gardai at Letterkenny station but works off a dedicated number, has divided opinion amongst the public in the county.
Local TD Deputy Thomas Pringle even referred to the telephone line as a “ratline” when it was discussed in the Dail.
