HSE clears Dundalk to use first team squad for Finn Harps trip

DUNDALK have been cleared by the HSE to use their first team squad in Friday’s League of Ireland Premier Division game against Finn Harps.

All of Dundalk’s squad underwent Covid-19 tests on Tuesday with all returning negative results.

Some members of the Dundalk panel broke Covid guidelines on Saturday when they visited Belfast city centre.

In a statement, Dundalk said:  “After consultation with HSE Live, the club has determined that no further action needs to be taken.

“Since the advent of the virus, the club has worked in line with the FAI and HSE to ensure a safe environment for all of its players and staff and it is abundantly clear to everyone at Oriel Park that Covid-19 protocols must be strictly adhered to at all times.

“The players fully recognise that this breach was a serious error of judgement and apologise unreservedly for their actions.”

Last weekend, Waterford fielded their under-19 side in a 7-0 defeat to Drogheda after a positive case and close contacts in the senior squad. Waterford have forfeited this weekend’s game against Sligo Rovers.
