A young Letterkenny student has put herself in the picture after snapping a great moment at her school.
Shayna Rodgers, who is in fifth Class at Ballyraine NS, was a finalist in the INSPA National School Photography Awards competition with her composition ‘Plain Sailing’.
The theme of this National Photography Award was ‘Second Chance’, focusing on recycling and giving everyday objects a second chance of re-use through recycling.
Shayna’s photo was a recycled ‘swan’ umbrella created by local artist and keen recycler Michael Parkinson and the award-winning photo was taken by Shayna in the school pond at Ballyraine NS.
The photo was part of a Mini-Expo showcasing all the finalists from across the country.
All finalists were selected by a national panel of judges which included professionals from both the arts and education sectors.
School principal David Oliver was delighted for Shayna saying “This is a wonderful achievement for this keen amateur photographer.”
