TWO motorists were clocked travelling well over the recommended speed limit today by the Buncrana Roads Policing Unit.

One motorist was detected travelling at 128Kph (79.53 Mph) in a 80Kph (50Mph) zone and another travelling at 96Kph (59.65Mph) in a 60Kph (37Mph) zone.

“Excessive speed is a major contributory factor in road traffic collisions. Please always remain mindful of the speed at which you are travelling,” a garda spokesperson said.

Members of the public can call Traffic Watch lo-call number 1890 205 805 to report aggressive driver behaviour, driving hazards and traffic-related incidents.

Calls are answered and logged by civilian personnel at the Garda Information Services Centre, Castlebar.

The reported incident is then forwarded to the relevant Garda Station for investigation.

Alternatively, you can contact your local station.
