Gardaí are continuing efforts to piece together details of an incident where two horses were released and killed in road collisions last week.

Two horses were killed and another was injured after being let out onto the N56 Letterkenny-Kilmacrennan road in the early hours of Monday morning (24th May).

Gardaí visited the location again yesterday morning. A checkpoint was set up to stop and question passing motorists who may have passed the location at the same time the previous week.

Investigations are continuing into how the horses came to be loose on the road, as the animals had all been secured in nearby fields by their owners.

Gardaí at Milford are appealing for any information the public may have and if you have any information which may assist please contact Milford Garda Station on (074) 91 53060.
