Beachgoers who visit Sweet Nellie’s Beach near Greencastle are being urged to watch out for a potentially dangerous hole.
The hole cannot be seen when the tide is in, posing a risk to children or anyone who is not aware of it.
The warning comes after a young boy fell into the hole at the weekend. Fortunately he was lifted out quickly, but the water was so deep that it was up to the boy’s neck.
The hole is said to located the middle of the first beach.
The RNLI Lough Swilly crew shared a public alert today, saying “By all accounts this is a new hole and not a lot of people know it exists.”
