THERE was a one-two for Finn Valley AC duo James Kelly and Gavin McLaughlin in Liverpool at the weekend.

Kelly won the shot put, throwing out to 16.37m.

The St Johnston man took the gold with McLaughlin following up in second.

McLaughlin launched out to a best of 15.94, while he also finished fourth in the discus, his best there of 43.94m.

Stateside, there was a huge personal best over a mile for Oisín Ó Gailín.

In a season-closing race, Ó Gailín ran the mile in four minutes and four seconds – a nine-second PB – at Nashville, Tennessee.

The Finn Valley man will now target a sub-4 mile.

Elsewhere, Letterkenny AC husband-and-wife team Patricia and Aidan McKenna performed well at the Paul Murray 5k at Eskra on Friday.

Aidan’s 19:48 gave him first place in the M50 category while a 23:44 from Patricia earned a second place in the F50 class.
