OVER 20 member of the Turtle Cycling Group of the Finn Wheelers Cycling Club completed 370km during the month of May for the House to House Challenge last month.
The challenge was in aid of The Ronald Mc Donald House at Crumlin Hospital for Sick Children in Dublin. The members completed the challenge with a cycle to Donegal Town wearing the the charity cycle tops.
A total of €6,051 was raised for the Ronald McDonald House Charity.
The Turtle Cycling Group would like to thank everyone who generously donated to the the charity cycle challenge.
Club secretary Mary Harrold presented cheque donations to the staff at Ronald McDonald House in Dublin.
The club members were delighted to have raised so much for this worthy cause while getting fit in the process.
The challenge distance of 370km represents one of the many journeys families must make from all over Ireland to bring their child to CHI at Crumlin for medical care or treatment.
Having hosted more than 4,200 families since opening its doors in 2004, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) provides a home-away-from-home for 20 families, who can rely on a clean and controlled environment to stay, close to their children who are undergoing treatment in Children’s Health Ireland, Crumlin.
This accommodation is especially important for families living outside of Dublin, who would be faced with the financial burden of finding accommodation in the city to stay close to their child.
Every week at least one family form Co. Donegal avails of this facility while a seriously ill child is being treated in the adjacent Children Health Ireland hospital, Crumlin. Families can stay for a few days, several weeks or even months.
