Visiting restricted at some community nursing units

VISITING has been restricted at some community nursing units in Donegal.

The HSE Public Health Department, North West, has advised that some community nursing units in the North East and Inishowen areas of Donegal have been restricted for visiting.

The HSE has not confirmed the details of which units have been restricted.

This, the HSE says, is in facilities in areas with high rates of Covid-19 infection and which have lower than normal vaccine uptake rates.

The measure is ‘due to the possible risk of Covid entering the premises.’

“Visiting can occur in exceptional circumstances with strict adherence to public health and infection control guidelines,” the HSE said.

“If any family member/guardian has any queries regarding visiting restrictions they should contact the facility directly.  This decision will be kept under constant review.

“The HSE continue to implement strict infection control policies and guidelines re Covid management to ensure that we protect the safety of residents and staff in all our facilities.”

Further information re guidelines to visiting restrictions in long term care residential facilities can be found on HPSC Website: https://www.hpsc.ie/a-z/respiratory/coronavirus/novelcoronavirus/guidance/infectionpreventionandcontrolguidance/residentialcarefacilities/Guidance%20on%20visits%20to%20RCF.pdf
