Top Donegal beer garden and restaurant embracing the great outdoors

The hospitality sector was hit with a major blow this week after the government’s announcement on delaying indoor dining, but one Donegal business is staying positive and is encouraging people to embrace the great outdoors and outdoor dining this summer.

The Traveller’s Inn, Milford reopened last month with a new facelift to its beer garden and courtyard.

In addition to the upgrading carried out last year, the new works to the courtyard include a fully heated outdoor dining area, two new 70-inch TVs for live sport and new grass flooring for the ultimate outdoor experience. The bar team also launched a new cocktail menu that includes classic favourites such as Strawberry Daiquiri, Espresso Martini, Mojito and Gin Bramble.

The Traveller’s Inn, Milford is now open daily serving food, speciality coffees, cocktails and craft beers.

Speaking to Donegal Daily, Michael McBride, owner of The Traveller’s Inn, said: “There’s no doubt that the delay in indoor dining is a major blow to friends in the hospitality sector with many businesses unable to open after working tirelessly to get back up and running. Even though we are operating at a much lower capacity than normal, we do know how lucky we are to be able to work and continue to serve locals and visitors to the area.”

“We reopened our beer garden and courtyard last month for outdoor dining and there was a great buzz around the place. While it’s not the indoor experience we all wanted, outdoor dining can be enjoyable and that’s why we made a conscious effort to ensure the courtyard and beer garden was fully heated with brightly coloured decor to give customers an outdoor dining experience that they’ll remember and enjoy,” Michael added.

Customers can watch live sports on the 70 inch TVs in the newly revamped courtyard at The Traveller’s Inn Milford

The Coffee Doc at The Traveller’s Inn, which launched earlier this year, serves speciality coffees, tea, hot chocolate and a range of crafted toasted sandwiches, sausage rolls and freshly made cakes, traybakes and pastries. The opening was a great boost to the local community, supporting local employment and adding a much-needed service to the town.

The Traveller’s Inn is now open 7 days a week. The Coffee Doc is open daily from 10am – 5pm for coffees and traybakes and the bar will be open from 10.30am – 11.30pm daily serving a range of craft beers, cocktails and local gin and whiskey.

Food lovers will be able to try out the outdoor courtyard from 4 – 9pm from Monday to Saturday and on Sundays from 12noon – 9pm, where the Milford venue will be serving up pizzas, garlic bread and crafted sandwiches as well as house favourites Warm Chicken Salad and The Traveller’s Inn Steak Burger.

Bookings are already filling fast for the summer ahead, but you can secure your booking for drinks, evening dining or coffees, by texting 086 2115877. For more information visit The Traveller’s Inn social media pages:
