Heavy downpours are affecting evening traffic this Tuesday evening.
Road users are being urged to slow down and take extreme care due to spot flooding.
Letterkenny is particularly affected by the heavy rain.
AA Roadwatch has issued this advice: “Take care if driving in any affected areas – slow down and keep well back from whoever’s in front and remember heavy rain can affect visibility too so be mindful of pedestrians.”
Met Eireann is forecasting persistent rain for the northwest this evening. Tonight it will be cloudy and misty, with patchy rain and drizzle, most persistent early in the night in the south and west of the country.
