Planning refused for telecoms mast in Inishowen village

Donegal County Council has refused permission for an 18 metre telecommunications mast in Fahan village.

Eircom had sought to erect the pole carrying antennas, associated equipment, together with ground-based cabinets and all associated site development works for wireless data and broadband services. There were no objections to the application.

However, council planners decided to refuse permission for the development citing it would pose an ‘unacceptable visual impact’ on the village and would affect the historical environment of Fahan.

Meanwhile, the council has granted permission for the completion of an unfinished estate in west Donegal.

Frank Carr and Declan McGinley have been given the go ahead to complete the construction of five houses at Port Arthur View, Lunniagh, Derrybeg.
