Man given community service after theft of Heineken cans

July 13, 2021

A MAN with 28 previous convictions has been sentenced to 40 hours of community service following the theft of two cans of Heineken from a Letterkenny shop.

Myles Connors (44) of Neil T Blaney Road, Letterkenny, was charged in connection with the incident on April 10, 2020.

Connors entered the shop at Tobin’s Service Station, went into the drinks area and placed two cans of Heineken, valued at €4, into his pocket.

Letterkenny District Court heard that Connors was intoxicated at the time and the property was not recovered.

Solicitor Mr Patsy Gallagher said his client sometimes finds himself ‘with unnecessary friends’.

“He is a very polite man, but he has his own issues in life,” Mr Gallagher said.

Taking into account the previous convictions, Judge Deirdre Geary sentenced Connors to 40 hours of community service in lieu of two months imprisonment.
