Charity hero ‘Speedo Mick’ is in town on a mammoth 2,000 mile trek around the UK and Ireland.
The Scouser is catching plenty of attention on the roads of Donegal, as he’s only be wearing his trademark blue Everton undies!
In an update to fans, he admitted that he was ‘struggling’ with loneliness and aches and pains on the roads yesterday. It is hoped that that supporters can come out and give him a boost today.
Setting off from Stranorlar, Mick will walk to Donegal Town today. You can track him at this link: (click here).
The adventure is part of his ‘Giving Back Tour’, which started in the Western Isles of Scotland at the end of May and will take in the five capital cities of Edinburgh, Belfast, Dublin, Cardiff and London. It will take him five months to complete but along the way as well as raising funds for good causes through his SpeedoMick Foundation, he is looking to give away £250,000 to good causes and charities along the way.
The reason for the tour is to give back to the people and the communities who have supported Mick in the past. He has been through some tough times and in some dark places in his life and one the most rewarding parts of fundraising for Mick has been to help people who are facing what he has faced. He raised over £500,000 from his last walk form John O’Groats to Lands End and has since set up his own Foundation backed by his board of trustees and ambassadors is now set on making sure that gets to those part of society that need it most.
He is keen to spread the word and put smiles on people’s faces in his own special way, and he already has done that in Donegal by meeting people doing the Everest Step Up Challenge in memory of John, Tomás and Amelia Mullan and in support of Geraldine Mullan’s nominated charities of Laura Lynn and Ceolan Music school.
SpeedoMick invites everyone to join his stomping route or set up your own fundraising event. You can follow his location on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/TheSpeedoMickFoundation or Twitter: https://twitter.com/speedomick
