Three people have been rescued from the water off Rathmullan this afternoon.
The alarm was raised just before 3.30pm, when a lifeguard on Rathmullan beach became concerned for the safety of three people on paddleboards.
Lough Swilly RNLI was tasked by the Irish Coast Guard to attend to the people who were half a mile from Rathmullan.
The paddle boarders were taken to the safety of Rathmullan beach.
“The casualties were cold but otherwise in good health,” said a statement from Lough Swilly RNLI.
The volunteer crew returned to Ned’s Point in Buncrana to refuel and make ready for service.
“Remember when out on the water please wear the correct buoyancy equipment,” the crew said.
“If you’re in difficulty or see someone in or on the water in trouble please dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.”
