THE cross country season is about to swing firmly back into action at Finn Valley AC.

The club will be a hive of cross country action in September with a big week later this month.

Two days of primary schools cross country will be followed by the secondary schools equivalent and the McGonagle Champions Cup.

The last of the schools cross country events at Finn Valley AC was in 2019 with 2020’s versions falling due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

There has been a great response to confirmation that the 2021 primary and secondary schools cross-country events will be held.

To ensure compliance with public health measures, the primary schools cross country will take place across two days, September 21 and 22, from 11.15am-1pm. Schools are asked to indicate their day of preference to the club.

The secondary schools cross country takes place on September 23 from 11.30am-12.45pm.

The schools cross-country – this will be their 20th staging – have been a staging post for many excellent athletes over the years and this year are being headed up by Dermot McGranaghan.

The Champions Cup takes place on Sunday, September 26. This is an open cross-country event, over shortened distances with the top club awarded the McGonagle Cup.

On the same day, there will be beginners cross-country races for men (4k) and women (3k).

Finn Valley AC is ready for a big cross country campaign. The club is set to host two major meets with the Ulster Novice and Uneven Ages on November 6 before the Donegal Senior Cross-Country and Underage Relays on November 14.
