THE Cloughaneely Golf Club Annual Club Development Classic takes place this Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th September re-entry allowed.

Cost is €25pp including food with excellent prizes on offer.

Thank you to all sponsors, especially the main sponsors: Teach Coll, Pro Ampac, McClafferty’s Eurospar, Strand Bar & Kitchen, Batch Donegal, Siopa Mhicí Gaoth Dobhair and McAuliffe’s Dunfanaghy.

The  appreciate all donations from businesses.  We welcome any donations from Club Members or sponsorship from local businesses for this upcoming club development classic.

The results from last weekend’s competition. 1st: John Murphy (23) 39pts; 2nd: Eamonn McCourt (22) 37pts;  3rd: Kenny MacPherson (27) 35pts.

2; John Murphy, Noel Ó Gallchóir and Semaus McGee

Well done to the Minor League team who beat Buncrana 3-2 to advance to the next round.  Some very close matches with Joe ‘GAA’ McGarvey and John Murphy winning at home. A great win in the 19th away by Ciaran Rodgers and Joe Doherty in Buncrana.

It was left to Dan Doohan & Shaun McGarvey and this match went all the way to the 20th hoe. Shaun ‘Turtle’ McGarvey held his nerve to sink a 20footer to take Cloughaneely through; a super victory, well done to Kenny, Hugo and all the lads.

They face Letterkenny GC next on 19th September. The 2021 Junior Scratch Matchplay team were very narrowly defeated 4-3 Vs North West Golf Club. The semi final was played last Sunday afternoon at Sandy Hills Rosapenna.

3: Dean Gallagher, Paul Doherty and Chris McCallion

Best of luck to Brian Griffin and North West Golf Club in the 2021 County Final.

Thank you to Club Member Ian McFadden from John Joe McFadden’s Coal and Oil Depot, for his generous sponsorship of our club flags for 2021 and 2022.

Cloughaneely GC would also like thank Ciaran Gallagher Errigal Motors Gortahork for sponsoring the 2021 Golfer of the Year competition.
