Accommodation crisis: LYIT Students’ Union ‘doing all we can’ to address issue

LETTERKENNY is in an accommodation crisis for students at LyIT.

The LyIT Students’ Union says that the issue of accommodation is ‘huge’ and the student body has pledged to exhaust all avenues in a bid to address it.

Letterkenny was already in the grip of a housing shortage before the return of students to the campus.

There are in excess of 5,000 students at LyIT and the students union says it has been ‘inundated’ with enquiries about accommodation.

“We fully appreciate everyone’s frustrations with the lack of rooms available locally but please be assured that we are doing all we can to address this issue for now in the short term,” the LyIT Students’ Union aid.

“The issue of the lack of accommodation available locally this year is huge.

“We are working hard to try and source additional rooms but it is a difficult task in the current climate and of course as we do not have any college accommodation, this makes it even more difficult.”
