A young Donegal man who survived a brain injury in America is now home and happy to be alive.
Gary Reynolds, aged 20, suffered a severe head trauma as a result of an accident in Boston in May.
The Killybegs man was working in the city at the time. He had been travelling with workmates in the back of a pick-up truck when he fell from the vehicle. He was rushed for emergency surgery and spent months in hospital and rehab.
Today’s Sunday Independent features an interview with Gary’s mother, Sarah, who said “it is a miracle how quick he has come on” since the ordeal.
Gary benefited from overwhelming support from friends and family at home following the accident. An online appeal raised €125,000 to help fund medical costs, rehab and services not covered by insurance. His family has expressed immense gratitude for the unforgettable support.
