Man appears in court after being found with €1,700 worth of drugs

A 23-year-old man found in possession of drugs with a street value of €1,700 on separate dates in 2020 has appeared in court.

Conor McNamara, with an address of Bentley House, Main Street Convoy was before Letterkenny District Court.

On January 25, 2020, at Fortwell, Letterkenny, McNamara was found in possession of quantitates of cocaine, cannabis and diazepam, valued at a combined €1,148. McNamara was also charged with possessing diazepam with the intent to sell or supply.

The accused was charged with possession of clonazepam on January 25, 2020 and also with the possession of clonazepam on the same date with the intention to sell or supply.

McNamara was further charged with possession of cannabis on September 7, 2020.

Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that the drugs had a combined value of €1,700.

When the charges were put to the accused, he made no reply, Sgt Collins said.

McNamara is also charged with inducing a woman to lodge €150 into an account in his name for concert tickets that never existed with the intention of making a gain for himself or another.

Judge Sandra Murphy adjourned the case to November 15 next.
