A young cyclist has been rushed to hospital after being struck by a car outside Ballybofey this morning.

The man, from the locality, was cycling at McGroary’s Brae, on the main Ballybofey to Donegal town road when the incident occurred at around 10am.

Donegal Daily understands that a collision took place between two cars, before one of the vehicles struck the cyclist.

He was rushed by ambulance to Letterkenny University Hospital where he is being treated for non life threatening injuries.

“A stop/go system is presently in place  and delays are to be expected and please approach the area with care,” a garda spokesperson said.
