Ten further Covid-19 deaths recorded in Donegal

Ten Covid-19 related deaths have been registered in Donegal in the past fortnight, new figures show.

The CSO reports that 187 people in Donegal have died with Covid-19 since the pandemic began.

The median age of those who have died with the virus in Donegal is 82. 

A total of 20,408 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in Donegal since March 2020. The median age of all people affected by the virus in Donegal is 31.

There were 401 new cases in Donegal in the week ending 1st October – representing a 24% decrease compared to the previous week, when 526 new cases were confirmed in the county.

The CSO reports that the number of weekly cases was 8,322 in the week ending 1st October, a drop of 6% from 8,862 in the previous week. Nearly a quarter (23%) of cases were among people aged 25-44 while about one in ten (11%) was in those aged 65 and over. Those aged 14 or younger accounted for 23% of cases down from 30% the previous week. Nationally, there were 15 deaths among confirmed COVID-19 cases in the week ending 01 October and 14 deaths (93%) were in people aged 65 and over.
