Harps travel to Waterford in crucial league game

Finn Harps take on Waterford FC tonight at 7:45pm in the RSC in a game where both teams are on the back of a good run of form.

Harps are currently in 8th position, four points ahead of tonights opponents, who sit in the relegation play-off spot in what looks to be the most competitive play-off battle in years.

Ollie Horgan’s men will be looking to build on their good run of form, having lost just once in their last eight league games.

Harps will be without Ethan Boyle, Sean Boyd and Ryan Connolly through suspension. Ryan Rainey, Johnny Dunleavy and Dan Hawkins are doubts.

Ollie Horgan is expecting a tough game at the RSC. Speaking to FinnHarps.ie, the Harps manager said: “Waterford have already beaten us in Ballybofey, and they’re going a lot better than they were then, but I suppose so are we.

“They’ve invested in experience, as well as a number of young players who have a lot of quality and pace.”

Horgan added: “We’ll need to be at the top of our game to have any chance of a result.

“The change in manager and change in owner has given them a huge lease of life. They’re in a Cup semi-final and will have every intention of making the final and that’s what we’re up against.”

Only Shamrock Rovers have picked up more points than Waterford in the last 10 league games and The Blues are unbeaten in their last 6 home games, picking up four wins.

Marc Bircham’s men will be without Darragh Power and Prince Mutswunguma through suspension.
