It will be bright at first across Donegal this morning with rain returning in the afternoon, according to Met Éireann.

The national forecaster says the day will start off bright and breezy with sunny spells.

However, scattered showers in the west this morning will spread to all areas through the afternoon and into the evening.

Some of the showers will be heavy, with the chance of isolated thunderstorms, especially in the west of Ulster.

Highest temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees, mildest and brightest in the east, with moderate to fresh and gusty southwest winds.

The scattered showers will continue tonight, especially over the western half of Ulster.

Becoming mostly dry further east with good clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees in moderate southwest winds, remaining fresh to strong on coasts.
