Arranmore United 1-0 Cappry Rovers Reserves
Cappry Rovers made the wet and windy journey to the Island to face an Arranmore team looking to keep the momentum going after a great game last week.
Arranmore began the game aggressively and Dion Byrne was unlucky with his shot denied by the Cappry keeper. With the wind picking up, the game became very grounded and was mostly played in the middle of the pitch.
Then, in the 40th minute, a pass from Gary Heaney found Brian Proctor who picked up the ball outside the box and fired into the top corner. The second half was slower paced as the weather deteriorated. Ben Boyle had to make a few simple saves and Chris Mc Glanaghey was very unfortunate to not score, denied by a great save. Solid all round performance from the Arranmore with Peadar Boyle playing exceptionally, holding in the backline.

Kilmacrennan Celtic Reserves 3-1 Keadue Rovers Reserves
Kilmacrennan had a good win over Keadue Rovers on Friday night in a match played under the lights at the League Headquarters in Ballyare.
Kilmacrennan have made what you might call a mediocre start to this year’s Saturday League One campaign with only two wins from their first five games. Friday night’s opposition Keadue look a good decent side full of youth and experienced players and will prove hard to beat this season.
Kilmacrennan are also a team full of youth and experienced players and both came to the fore in this tight game. Kilmacrennan’sfront two Terry Shiels and strike partner Ryan Shields proved too hard to handle with their non-stop movement and indeed it was Terence Shiels who provided the winning goal helping himself to a brace of goals one in each half. Youth player Cian Page and veteran Gérard Mc Granaghan were in sensational form in the middle of the park and it was young Page who opened the scoring on the 15th minute when he chipped the keeper following a superb through ball from Shaun O’Donnell.
Terence Shiels doubled Kilmacrennan’s lead on twenty-threeminutes when Ryan Shields ran onto a through ball from Mc Granaghan, Ryan Shields did well to get past the keeper and square the ball to Shiels who added the finishing touch. Kilmacrennan were in cruise control in the first half but as the second half began Keadue changed their formation and had a really good go at the Lurgysiders. They were rewarded for their fast start to the second half when Liam Boyle, with a fine strike from the edge of the penalty area, made it 2 – 1.
The Kilmacrennan defence held firm and stood tall as Keadue went in search of an equaliser. Midway through the second half Kilmacrennanincreased their lead when young Owen Brown put Terry Shiels through on goal and the veteran made no mistake, he had the composure to slot the ball past the keeper and the game was sealed. Three valuable points for the Kilmacrennan men. It was a very good sporting game and credit to both teams. Best for Kilmacrennan: Terry Shiels, Cian Page andGérard Mc Granaghan. Best for Keadue: Liam Boyle, Jamie Mc Cready and Jack Doherty.
Oldtown Celtic 5-1 Fintown Harps AFC
Fintown started the brighter of the sides and applied early pressure but the Oldtown defence stood firm. Oldtown then got into the game and went close twice through Gio Peoples who failed to hit the target. Fintown were working hard and it paid off when a loose ball in the box drew a penalty and it was comfortably dispatched to give Fintown a deserved lead. This spurred Oldtown into action and they started applying pressure and got level ten minutes before the break through a Gio Peoples header from a corner. They soon added a second when Peoples’ flick on was lobbed home by Tommy Mc Laughlin.
McLaughlin then added a 3rd converting a penalty after Luke Friel was fouled in the box. Fintown came out after the break and tried to get back into the game. They hit the post early on and again the Oldtown defence stood up to the Fintown challenge. Oldtown added a 4th when Peoples fired home from the edge of the area. Shane Smith then came off the bench to round the keeper for a 5th. Fintown kept going to the end but were unable to break Oldtown down. Team performances from both sides.
Strand Rovers 4-1 Glencar Celtic
Windy conditions in Maghery and Strand elected to play against the wind. Five minutes in Jordan Saville put Strand in front after fine work down the right wing by Brendan Glackin.
Glackin then doubled the lead on ten minutes. Strand started the second half in similar fashion, carrying the fight to Glencar and James Mc Cole excellently headed home on 75 minutes after good work from Ryan Brennan. Karl Magee got his first goal for the club in the 88th minute to make the points safe. Paddy Collins got one back in stoppage time to. Man Of The Match was Shane O’Donnell.
Old Orchard Saturday Division Two
Cranford United Reserves 4-2 Swilly Rovers Reserves
Cranford got a deserved victory against Swilly in a feisty encounter. Cranford started the game on the front foot and in a ten-minute spell were two up after two great strikes from outside the box from Dom Potter and Ben Fox.
Cranford went close to extending their lead on a few occasions but it took until the 40th minute until they got their third when Dylan Mc Bride did well to keep the ball in play and Paddy Mc Geever went through to score. Swilly got the lifeline they needed ten minutes into the second half when their centre-half headed home.
Cranford were reduced to ten men and Swilly got their second goal shortly afterwards. Swilly were then reduced to ten men. Cranford got a 4th to secure the victory in injury time from a Connor Shiels free kick.

Temple Domestic Appliances Division One
Swilly Rovers 1-2 Drumoghill F.C.
This game was reversed to The Moss as the new Swilly Park pitch in Ramelton is been prepared. Swilly in this game had a father and son combination in their ranks in Marty and Darragh. Drumoghill went ahead on 31 minutes when Rory Mc Crossan released Liam O’ Donnell and he produced a clinical finish to put Drumoghill ahead at halftime.
Swilly were much improved in the second half and produced wave after wave of attack, Marty Doyle was denied at close range and James Mc Cahill twice hit the crossbar and then Raymond Boyce saw his effort strike the bar. Swilly equalised on 71 minutes when Oisin Coyle’ssuperb cross was headed home in style by James Mc Cahill. Drumoghillgot the winner on 76 minutes when on a counter-attack Conor Temple showed great composure to beat a man and fire home.

Deele Harps 3-1 Glenree United
Deele entertained Glenree at Deele College on Sunday. Deele started bright with Marty Owens firing wide on ten minutes. Glenree tested David Arthur and the young keeper saved with his feet on 17 minutes.
Glenree took the lead on 18 minutes, Darragh Shiels finished well following good work from Marty Mc Bride on the left side. Thomas Mullen headed home on 24 minutes from a looping cross from Sean O’Reilly. Marty Owens headed off bar from a Shane Gallagher corner on 28 minutes.
Deele took the lead on 31 minutes, a short free to Marty Owens who squared to Sean O’ Reilly who hammered home. The Second half was a battle in torrential rain with chances at a premium. The game was settled on 81 minutes when a ball over the top found Tom Mullan who slid home his second goal of the day. Team Performances.

Castlefin Celtic 1-5 Illies Celtic
Castlefin exited the Ulster Cup to Inishowen side Illies. First half goals from Dominic Doherty and Paul Doherty either side of a Mathew O’Rourke strike for Castlefin had the Inishowen side in the lead at the break. Further goals from Dominic Doherty, Paul Doherty and Adrian Devine in the 2nd half sealed the win for the Inishowen men.

Keadue Rovers 0-3 Kildrum Tigers
Keadue Rovers fell to defeat again to Kildrum Tigers in a Cup match for the second time in a month after this deserved win at Central Park to progress in the Ulster Junior Cup.
On what was a tricky day for football, with a strong breeze, it was the away side who were sharper from the off and they had the first chance of the game with a header over the bar on six minutes. Overall as the half went on it was scrappy with the wind breaking down a lot of play. On fifteen minutes Kildrum again went close, firstly through Kevin McHugh, whose shot was well saved by Declan Ward as was the follow up. On twenty-two minutes the visitors should’ve been one up but Kevin Mc Hugh missed a sitter from a few yards out.
On twenty-two minutes Keadue had their first real effort when good work by Jay Doherty was followed by a shot parried away at the near post. Two minutes later though, the visitors deservedly went ahead when Kevin McHugh, opened the home defence and slammed a left footed effort low to the net. They began to dictate and made this count on twenty-eight minutes when Gary Crossan got on the end of a passing move to superbly volley to the top corner of the net for 2-0. Kildrum closed out the half the stronger team and could’ve been further ahead with a Gary Crossan effort well saved by Declan Ward. Into the second half and with the breeze behind them and a few subs made, Keadue made good inroads into the game.
By the sixtieth minute, chances had fallen to Oran Fallon and Jay Doherty who had a shot well saved. The home side continued to press Kildrum back but despite all the possession, apart from a few shots and free kicks, Kildrum weren’t really tested and by fifteen minutes from the end they had gained a good foothold again with a Kevin McHugh shot well saved. Further set pieces for Keadue came close with the keeper being worked but seven minutes from time a good Kildrum move led to Ryan Higgins scoring low to the corner of the net to seal victory and on to the next round for the visitors.
Raphoe Town 2-1 Fanad United
Raphoe progressed to the next round of the Ulster Junior Cup thanks to a great win against Fanad on Sunday but had to do it the hard way after they fell behind in the first half. Raphoe missed a few good chances before a mix up in the defence let Edward O’Reilly put the ball in the empty net against the run of play on 20 minutes.
However, the home side were soon back on level terms when Corey Gillen scored after a great cross from Mark Laird on 35 minutes. Both teams fought hard for the lead in the second half and Raphoe got the winner they deserved in the 80th minute when Conor Friel scored from a DJ Kelly cross.
