Letterkenny and Buncrana both received gold medals today at the 2021 TidyTowns awards where Minister Heather Humphreys announced €1.5million funding for Tidy Towns groups.
Glenties, Moville Raphoe and Carrigart also won bronze medals at the ceremony.
Letterkenny was 1st place in the county awards for Donegal, followed by Buncrana in second with Glenties in third.
Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys congratulated all volunteers and praised the work they have put in.
Minister Humphreys said: “I’ve seen first hand the tremendous work you continue to do and i’m always inspired by your enthusiasm, your dedication and your sheer effort.
“It has been a difficult period in our lives and I want to recognise the effort that you all make and to support you in your preparation in the 2022 competition.
“I am today announcing funding of €1.5million to be distributed for all active TidyTowns groups in advance of next years competition.”
