More than 20 Gardai from Donegal are off work because of Covid issues at present.

Details of the situation was given by Donegal’s Garda Chief Superintendent Terry McGinn during the Joint Policing Committee today.

She revealed how 21 officers are off-rota at present because they either have Covid or awaiting the results of a Covid test.

She said Donegal Town had been specifically hit with six members off at present.

A number of court cases have had to be adjourned in the district courts because of these officers being off.

Chief Supt McGinn said Covid has posed a major challenge for the day-today policing situation in Donegal.
