The NoWDOC service is a partnership between the GP members of Caredoc and the HSE.

It provides an urgent GP family Doctor service to patients of GP members in Co. Donegal and south Leitrim.

The service is designed to provide urgent GP care to patients and is not a substitute for the Emergency Ambulance Service, who are the appropriate service to deal with medical emergencies where they arise.

Christmas & New Year Opening Hours at NoWDOC

Friday, 24th December – 18:00 through to Wednesday, 29th December at 08:00am
Wednesday, 29th December – 18:00 to 08:00am

Thursday, 30th December – 18:00 to 08:00am
Friday, 31st December through to Tuesday 4th January 2022 – 18:00 to 08:00am

NoWDOC is experiencing a very high demand at present and this is expected to further increase over the Christmas weekend.

Urgent calls are prioritised and are dealt with first. We ask for your patience and to expect longer than usual delays.

NoWDOC Contact Number

From the 1st of January 2022, the NoWDOC Service is changing its number to

0818 400 911.

Callers who try to contact the service using the old 1850 400 911 from this date will receive a not in service tone.

At present, the new 0818 400 911 number is currently running parallel with the 1850 number.

The number is being changed because from the 1st of January 2022, 1850, 1890, and 076 telephone numbers will be withdrawn as the 2018 Non-Geographic Number (NGN) Decision and measures to simplify NGNs for organisations and consumers are implemented.

According to Ms Deirdre Moy, NoWDOC Service Manager “We would ask people to please bear with us when they contact the NoWDOC Service over the Christmas period and to expect delays due to the high volume of calls we are beginning to receive. We will continue to ensure urgent calls are prioritised and dealt with first. Also, please note the new contact number (0818 400 911) for the NoWDOC Service to which we wish to remind people to use when contacting the service. Ms Moy also advised that patients and service users should ensure that prescriptions and medicines are arranged with their own GP and pharmacy before the holiday period commences”.

Outside of Christmas/New Year Opening hours, NoWDOC in Carndonagh and Letterkenny now offer an urgent Out of Hours GP service throughout the weekend from 18.00 hrs Friday continuously until 08.00 hrs Monday, in addition to Monday to Thursday 18.00 hrs to 08.00 hrs the following day. This is a new change for the Letterkenny and Inishowen areas.
