Cloughaneely Golf Club have been named ‘Best Golf Club – North West Ireland’ for 2022 at the Irish Enterprise Awards on behalf of EU Business News.

The beautiful 9 Hole Parkland Golf Course was designed by Michael Doherty, former professional in the City of Derry Golf Club. The challenging par 70 course is a test for any golfer’s handicap and at the same time offers plenty of scope for the beginner.

The club has given special thanks to Philip and his green keeping team along with all the club members that volunteered their time and energy to help support them in 2021. Good news early in the year for a small 9 hole club in the Donegal Gaeltacht!

Awards were also recently handed out to three of the best golfers at the club.

Michael Gallagher topped the table in the beginners section by doing the impossible and beating Joseph Mangan into 2nd place. Michael played some incredibly consistent golf throughout the year and will be a man to watch heading into 2022.

In the main category, it came down to a final day shootout between the two form golfers of 2021. Experience shone through in the end with a higher finish in the Christmas Hamper securing top spot for John McGinley.

A brilliant achievement from John who wins his 3rd Golfer of the Year title in as many clubs after previously winning it in Gweedore (1953) and Dunfanaghy (1962).

Cian McGarvey finished in the runner up spot.
