Amber Barrett was a second half substitute for the Republic of Ireland in their Pinatar Cup quarter-final 2-1 victory over Poland.

Ireland went 1-0 down in Murcia, Spain to a Paulina Dudek penalty after Niamh Fahey, who earned her 100th cap for Ireland today, was penalised for a handball in the box.

Vera Pauw’s side equalised in the 66th minute when Lucy Quinn curled her left footed strike past Karolina Klabis.

They went 2-1 ahead when Louise Quinn came up from defence and powered home a header from a Katie McCabe cross in the 75th minute.

Barrett came on 5 minutes later for Kyra Carusa as Ireland progressed to face either Hungary or Russia in the semi-final on Saturday.

The Milford woman plays for 1. FC Köln in the Frauen Bundesliga and last week scored a brilliant solo goal against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim to earn her a spot in the Team of the Week.

Ciara Grant from Letterkenny was on the bench. Grant recently signed for Rangers who are currently top of the Scottish Women’s Premier Division.
