Jordan Furey’s success at the IMMAA has seen him rewarded with a call to represent Ireland at the MMA Super Cup in Bahrain next month.
Furey is part of the 12 person roster who will represent the country in the Super Cup from March 7-12 during the Brave International Combat Week, with the Letterkenny man being Ireland’s chosen fighter for the Welterweight division.
Furey was defeated in the final at the weekend by Colin Meagher of SBG Clonmel via decision in a fight that was to decide who would represent Ireland at the European Championships.
Despite missing out, he will now get the chance in the quarter-finals where Ireland were drawn against top seeds Russia.
Russia’s welterweight representative is Adbulla Aliev, of the Republic of Dagestan.
The winner of the Furey and Aliev fight will face the Ukraine or Arabic Champion in the semi-final.
