Catriona Devine was all smiles after returning to Ireland as one of the successful Finn Valley AC athletes at the European Masters Championships in Braga.
Catriona had her plan from before travelling to Portugal and she refused to go home without a medal, and she was delighted to meet her own expectations to come away with a medal as she finished 2nd in the 1500m on Thursday in a time of 4:55.72 just behind German Miriam Paurat.
“I had expectations to go out there and get a medal.
“I’m so happy and so proud I came home with a silver, I’ve was waiting a long time to get a medal on the European stage and it came and I’ll take it because there’s so many bad days out there in sport.”
“We’ll draw up new targets and the outdoor season will be a big one, I’d like to focus on National Seniors as well.”
