Jordan Furey made it 2 wins from 2 as he helped Team Ireland reach the final of the MMA Super Cup.
The Letterkenny man backed up his quarter-final win with another impressive performance as he stopped Mexico’s Israel Salcido Rodriguez via TKO in the second frame of their welterweight contest.
Mexico were late replacements for Ukraine in the competition and after defeating the Arab Champions in the quarter-final, took an early 3-1 lead against Ireland but the next 4 fights were won by Ireland, with Furey making it a tie at 3-3.
Furey, who won in the quarter-finals via ground and pound, boasted victory in the same style as he knocked Salcido Rodriguez down before the referee called a halt to the fight as the Mexican had no answer to the series of punches unleashed on him.
The Irish team will now face hosts Bahrain in the final with the winners collecting $100,000 while the runners will take home $75,000.
Furey is set to take on submission specialist Ramazan Gitinov, who has won his two fights in the competition via submission.
