More picnic tables sought for popular roadside stop

Donegal County Council has been urged to seek funding for more picnic benches at one of the county’s most popular coffee stops.

The Manorcunningham Picnic Area on the N14 currently has four benches, but local councillor Donal Coyle said there is room for many more.

Cllr Coyle told the Letterkenny-Milford MD this week that it is “amazing” the number of people that stop at the viewpoint, but families are often “eating out of the boot of their car and sitting on the wall”.

The popular 9ine Hostages Coffee van also adds to the draw of the area.

“I see myself there is a need for more tables,” Cllr Coyle said.

The response from the council said there is currently no funding available for the provision of additional picnic tables, but if funding opportunities become available, the Manorcunningham location will be considered for inclusion.
