Gemma McGuinness made history today as she scored Sligo Rovers’ first competitive goal in their first ever win, defeating Cork City 2-1.
The Greencastle native scored a terrific goal from the edge of the box just after the hour mark to give her side the lead.

It was another Donegal woman, Emma Doherty, who came on as a substitute to net the second and double the Bit O’Red’s lead before Cork got one back but it ended 2-1 at Turner’s Cross
