Motorists in the Inishowen town of Carndonagh have been warned to be extra careful where they are parking.
Gardai say that motorists have been parking their cars and vans in the bus stop at the Diamond in the town.
A spokesperson said “This poor driver behaviour results in buses having to double park on the main road in order to collect/drop off passengers. This is an extremely unsafe situation for all involved. Traffic disruption also occurs as a result.
“Do not park at the bus stop unless you are driving a bus. It sounds obvious but unfortunately it has to be said. We do not want a tragedy to occur on the roads.
“Gardaí are aware of the situation and will monitor the area.
“Fixed Charge Penalty Notices will be issued by Gardaí should they detect anybody parking in bus stops when not authorised to do so.”
