A learner driver was caught driving unaccompanied on a busy weekend for gardaí on the roads around Donegal.
Donegal Town Roads Policing Unit received a report of alleged dangerous driving over the weekend. As part of their investigation, a car was stopped and it was discovered that it was being driven by a learner driver who was not accompanied by a qualified driver. The car was seized under The Clancy Amendment and the driver will now face a Court appearance.
“An Garda Síochána remind all learner permit drivers that they must be accompanied by a qualified driver,” a spokesperson said.
Elsewhere in Letterkenny, a speed check detected a vehicle travelling at a speed of 158KPH in a 100KPH speed limit zone. Gardaí said the driver will now face a court appearance.
There was more positive reports from Burnfoot, where gardaí conducted a speed check in the Burt area over the weekend and all drivers were abiding by the speed limit. No speed detections were made.
