Communities across Donegal and Australia are sending love and support to a grieving Letterkenny woman following her husband’s devastating passing in Brisbane.
Donna Devenney lost her husband, Patrick Ringdahl, after a long and difficult four months in hospital care.
Patrick, aged 36, was born with a congenital heart disease known as Epstein disease.
Throughout his life he fought countless battles with his health, surviving open heart surgery, Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and Fibromyalgia.
He had a heart transplant in 2019.
A carpenter by trade, Patrick first met Donegal woman Donna in Brisbane City in 2009.
They married in Letterkenny in 2014 and have two daughters.
Earlier this year, he was diagnosed with a fungal infection which left him fighting for his life. He sadly passed away this week.
Donna’s friends have launched an online appeal to collect financial support for her in her time of grief.
The GoFundMe page, set up by Dan Broxham in Australia, seeks to support Donna with the costs of Patrick’s funeral service.
Dan wrote: “Patty was a top bloke, the kind that would give the shirt off his back if you needed it! In the next coming weeks Donna not only has to learn to live without her loving husband, but she has many expenses that goes along with death.
“We are raising money so Donna can take time off of work to take time with her girls to grieve and heal without the financial stress that comes with losing your husband. Anything you can donate will go towards funeral costs and day to day expenses so that Donna can take time to be with Evie and Lily.”
