Certificate in Revit and 4D BIM is available through Springboard+ at ATU Donegal
The proliferation of BIM in the worldwide context means that Irish companies are striving to invest in the associated software and training. There is a demand for construction and engineering professionals with the acquired transferable as well as technical skills to take up the role of BIM operator or manager in the changed environment.
The Certificate in Revit and 4D BIM focuses on practical skills in the use of the BIM authorising tool Revit, aiming to provide learners with the digital skills required in a BIM managed environment. Learners on this course come from a diverse range of backgrounds in terms of education and experience, leading to a dynamic mix in the virtual classroom.
The course explores the use of Revit software and the BIM process in the effective design and delivery of construction projects, concentrating firstly on acquiring the Revit skills to produce a 3D BIM model of a domestic and commercial building; progressing to a project-based curriculum focussed on the succeeding dimensions of BIM such as 4D clash detection, 5D quantity take-off and 6D energy modelling, developing and advancing the learner’s skills in Revit Architecture and BIM workflow and collaboration.
This level 7 course is delivered part time, online with classes taking place two evenings per week over two 13-week semesters. Those interested in applying to this course should have a level 6 or equivalent; a knowledge of construction technology is desirable; and a familiarity with 2D or 3D drawing packages would be an advantage. Candidates that do not have a degree but has significant relevant experience may also be eligible for consideration via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

Springboard+ applicants must meet all residency and nationality/visa requirements, including the applicant has been ordinarily resident in an EU/EEA/Swiss state for at least three of the five years preceding their entry to the programme.
Returners – Those who have a previous history of employment but may require upskilling, reskilling, or cross-skilling to transition back to the workforce.
People in employment – A 10% course fee contribution for Level 7, 8, and 9 courses is applicable for employed participants. This is payable directly to the provider.
The unemployed or formerly self-employed – May apply to all courses except for the two-year part-time ICT conversion courses. Unemployed applicants will also be required to meet additional criteria.
