Kilcar won their 15th Division 1 League title today against Naomh Conaill but manager Conor Cunningham believes the players did themselves proud out on the pitch.
Patrick McBrearty kicked six points for Kilcar, who started slow, but led for the final two thirds of the game.
Speaking to Ocean FM’s Ciaran Cannon, Cunningham said: “We played well on the ball but there’s a lot of work to do, we won anyway that’s the main thing.”
“The back six there is an average age of 22, we have good strength in depth this year, we have a few niggles we have to clear up and we had about six missing today but I have no sleepless nights regarding team selection.
“Not one of them let us down, they worked hard today.”
Kilcar won by 0-10 to 0-8 in horrible conditions in Killybegs and Cunningham believes that may have affected the quality of the game
“The conditions were terrible and it did affect the game, the quality was good, both teams wanted to get the kick passing going but it wasn’t seen all day.”
