Francis Boyle wins the Captain’s Prize at Cloughaneely Golf

Francis Boyle was the winner of the 2022 Captain’s Prize which was a great success at Cloughaneely Golf Club.

Great numbers for the Shootout, Scramble and for the main Captain’s Prize. Club Captain Stephen McCafferty held a very successful Captain’s Prize last Saturday 23rd July.

The winner over the 27 holes was the steady Francis Boyle very closely pipping Mark McGinley and Paul Doherty at the end.

Longest Drive: Mark McGinley; Nearest the Pin 11th: Ruairi McElwaine; Nearest the Pin 16th: Philip McGeady. Well done to Francis.

Great shooting by Cian McGarvey producing 4 birdies in the playoff to secure gross.

Michael McClafferty from the Strand Road Bar & Kitchen won the beginner’s prize and he said he’s all set in 2023 to take turtle down a peg or two!

This Friday 29th July there is a 9 Hole Singles Stableford in aid of the Donegal Hospice. Play anytime open to all.

This weekends competition is an 18 Hole Open Singles Stableford.

Jimmy Bruen plays in the North Ulster semi final this Saturday 30th July @ 2.30pm Vs City of Derry GC.

Best of luck to Sean O Gallchoir and his team in the semi final all support welcome the only Donegal team left in this prestigious competition.
