Maria Kealy played an important role as Ireland finished 9th in the Women’s European Basketball Championships in Bulgaria.
Kealy, the Ireland vice-captain, played more minutes than any other player in the tournament, a total of 256.
The Letterkenny Blaze player racked up eight points in Ireland’s final game in Sofia yesterday, a 70-66 win over Luxembourg, to secure ninth.
The Ireland team finished the tournament with a 5-2 record, narrowly missing out on a quarter-final spot.
Ireland began the tournament with a 64-54 win over Denmark last weekend but were defeated 67-47 by Serbia in game 2.
Another close defeat to Austria by 66-64 on Tuesday but they rallied from this, winning their four remaining games against Romania 64-59, Norway 75-50, Iceland 69-58 before the win over Luxembourg.
Kealy scored a total of 56 points across the tournament.
