A weather warning has indicated that temperatures will soar to almost 30C this weekend in Donegal.
A status yellow weather warning has been issued nationwide, with highs of 27-29C forecast in all counties. Donegal may escape the highest temperatures, according to the alert.
Met Eireann said: “Very warm or hot on Friday and Saturday with maximum temperatures generally of 27 to 29 degrees and locally higher. Warm overnight with minimum temperatures generally around 15 degrees.
“Temperatures may not be as high in coastal areas due to sea breezes, particularly in the northwest.”
The warning is valid from 12noon Friday to 6am on Sunday.
The risks associated with the high temperatures are heat stress, especially for the more vulnerable of the population, high Solar UV index and the risk of water related incidents. Summer water safety tips are available at: https://www.gov.ie/en/publication/a00ea-summer-water-safety/
