Naomh Columba were on scoring form in the second half as they eased to victory over Naomh Mhuire, Convoy in the IFC at Pairc na nGael.

Naomh Columba 7-12 Convoy 0-10

The Glen side were 0-6 to 0-1 up at the water break thanks to two points from Lanty Molloy and Ryan Gillespie, one from a free, while Eric Carr and Phillip Doherty got one each.

Joe McGill got Convoy’s first point of the first quarter, while adding to his tally before half time and Convoy also pointed through John Doherty and John Toye.

Carr and Gillespie again pointed to make it 0-8 to 0-4 at half-time.

But the second half would see Naomh Columba begin to hit the back of the net, firstly through Kevin McNern.

Aaron Doherty and Gillespie kicked over from frees while McGill pointed again for Convoy.

Carr got a great goal of his own and McNern scored another as Naomh Columba went 3-10 to 0-5 ahead at the second water break.

The fourth quarter would see Convoy score as many points as in the first three quarters but the goals for the hosts kept flowing.

Gillespie got his only goal to add to his points tally but two points from McGill, and one from Doherty and Pauric Gordon got points back for Convoy.

However, Molloy would strike the back of the net for the fifth time for the home side and Paul O’Hare added to the scoreline with a point from play.

Phillip McNern would be the next goal scorer and Eric Carr hit the back of the net for the second time, while a point either end from Kevin McNern and John Doherty made it a final scoreline of 7-12 to 0-10.
