Irish Water has said it is not possible to say how long a boil water notice will remain in several parts of Donegal.
The Boil Water Notice (BWN) for the Lettermacaward Public Water Supply was put in place on Friday last, 12 August to protect customers on the network.
Irish water told Councillor Michael Cholm Mac Giolla Easbuig that public health is their number one priority.
A spokesperson said “While it is not possible to indicate how long the BWN will remain in place please be assured that Irish Water’s drinking water compliance and operational experts are working with colleagues in Donegal County Council to resolve the situation with a view to having the notice lifted as quickly as possible.
“Customers in the Lettermacaward, Portnoo, Rossbeg, Cleangort, Doochary, Meenacross, Dooey, Glenties Road, Maghery and Falmore areas should continue to boil water before use until further notice.
“We will keep you keep you informed of updates as they become available.”
